Wedding DJ & MC

Your wedding DJ
and your MC.

From small intimate ceremonies to 600-guest receptions across Southern Ontario, planned properly in advance, then run so smoothly that you get to be a guest at your own wedding.

A wedding DJ who is also your MC

The music matters, but the reason a reception feels effortless is that somebody is quietly running it. Hammer DJ Services covers both jobs: the DJ keeping the floor full, and the MC making sure your guests always know what happens next: when to sit, when to listen, when the speeches start, when the cake gets cut.

DJ Steve has delivered tailored wedding services to couples across Ontario, from small intimate gatherings to 600-guest receptions. Whatever the scale, the approach is the same: plan it properly beforehand, then read the room on the night.

Before the day

We meet with you personally, usually well before the wedding, and often more than once. That meeting is where we go through the timeline hour by hour, settle the announcements, and cover the scenarios nobody thinks about until they happen: the speech that runs twenty minutes long, the head table that’s still taking photos, the grandparents who want to hear one song before they leave at nine.

You’ll give us three lists: the songs you must hear, the songs you never want to hear, and the people who need to be introduced correctly. We take the pronunciations seriously.

Ceremony, cocktails, dinner, dance

We can cover the whole day or just the reception. Ceremony coverage means a separate sound setup and wireless microphones so your vows are actually audible in the back row, with processional, recessional and signing music cued to the moment rather than faded in late.

Through cocktails and dinner the music sits underneath conversation at a level where guests can talk across a table. When the dance floor opens, it opens properly.

Lighting and the look of the room

Dance floor lighting is part of the standard setup. Room uplighting is the common add-on: fixtures placed around the perimeter of your hall, set to your wedding colours, which changes how the entire space photographs once the lights go down. If your venue has restrictions on what can be mounted or where, tell us and we’ll work inside them.

Where we play

We’re based in Hamilton and cover the whole Golden Horseshoe as standard. See the venues we work in, or the specifics for Burlington, Niagara, Oakville & Milton and Brantford. Travel inside the region is included in the price.

Music that suits your crowd, not ours

A wedding is usually four generations in one room. Our library spans roughly the last 70 years, which means the aunts and uncles get their set, the grandparents get theirs, and the dance floor still peaks at midnight for your friends. If your family expects specific cultural sets, and a lot of Hamilton rooms do, tell us early and we’ll have them ready.

Questions about wedding dj

Do you cover the ceremony as well as the reception?

Yes. Ceremony coverage is a separate sound setup with wireless microphones so your officiant and your vows carry to the back of the room, plus cued processional, signing and recessional music. It can be added to any reception booking; just mention it when you check your date.

Do you take care of the announcements and introductions?

That’s the MC half of the job and it’s included. Grand entrance, blessing, dinner, speeches, first dance, parent dances, cake, bouquet and garter, last dance, all announced on cue. We confirm every name and pronunciation with you in advance.

Can we give you a do-not-play list?

Please do. It’s as useful to us as the must-play list. Anything on it stays off, including if a guest requests it.

What if our reception runs late?

It happens at almost every wedding: speeches run long, dinner starts late. We build slack into the timeline for exactly that and adjust on the night. If you want to extend past the contracted end time and the venue allows it, talk to us during the event and we’ll sort it out then and there.

Do you have backup equipment?

Yes. We carry spare gear to every wedding, because “the system died” is not something anyone should hear at their reception.

Will our venue need proof of insurance?

Most halls and hotels do now. We’re fully insured and can send your venue the certificate they need directly; just pass along their contact and we’ll handle it.

Let’s check your date.

Tell us the date, the venue and the vibe. We’ll come back with a straight answer and a straight price. No pressure, no packages you don’t need.
