What comes standard
No mystery add-ons and no line items invented after you’ve signed. This is what a booking gets you.
- A real MC, not just a playlist
Introductions, speeches, toasts, cake, bouquet, all announced clearly and on cue, so nobody in the room is ever wondering what happens next. - Professional sound & microphones
Sound sized to your room, wireless mics for speeches and the ceremony, and levels that let people talk at their table and still hear every word. - Dance floor lighting
Included as standard, with optional room uplighting to wash your venue in your wedding colours, which changes how every photo of the night looks. - 70 years of music on hand
Big band to today’s Top 40, plus country, Motown, disco, rock, hip hop and the cultural sets a lot of Hamilton rooms expect. - Planning that happens before the day
We meet with you personally before the event, work through a planning guide together, build the timeline, and lock in your must-plays and your do-not-plays. - One event per day
Your night is the only one on the calendar. Nobody is packing up early to make a second booking, and there is no rushing the last hour. - Licensed, insured, CDJA member
Fully licensed and fully insured, and a member of the Canadian Disc Jockey Association. The paperwork your venue asks for, handled.

Meet DJ Steve.
Steve founded Hammer DJ Services in 1999 and has spent more than two decades playing rooms all over Southern Ontario, from 40-person backyard anniversaries to 600-guest wedding receptions.
He is a fully-licensed, fully-insured professional and a member of the Canadian Disc Jockey Association. More to the point: he is the person you meet at the consultation, the person on the microphone at your event, and the person you call if anything changes.
Straight from the dance floor.
What people say the morning after.
Bryan and I had the absolute best experience with DJ Steve for our wedding at Balls Falls! From start to finish, he was professional, kind, and so easy to work with. Steve went above and beyond in every way. He was so thoughtful in how he communicated with our parents, taking the time to connect with them and make sure they felt included.
He came prepared with a wide variety of music that suited every age and vibe perfectly… The dance floor was full all night long. Steve knew exactly how to read the room and keep the energy flowing while still respecting the tone we wanted for each part of the evening. On top of all of this, he was our MC and kept things on schedule for us.
DJ Hammer Steve was such an amazing DJ and MC at our wedding held at Brunswick Bierworks… We wanted to do a confetti cannon during our first dance and he was extremely accommodating to help make it happen. He wired our venue top to bottom with fantastic speakers and microphones. He was extremely organized, didn’t miss a beat, and even provided helpful song recommendations for the signing of the wedding licence.
We searched for a long time and went through a few DJs. Some didn’t even respond, some wanted to make the day about them and their business. One even wanted to bring his drum kit and play along with all of the music. Then there’s Steve. Totally professional, available any time we had questions, and extremely flexible.
Steve was amazing from the very first conversation almost 2 years ago! He isn’t just a DJ, he checked in on us to see if we needed help with anything. He took tons of photos and shared them with us. We didn’t have a videographer, so he helped by operating the phone we set up on a tripod! I have never experienced a DJ like that ever before.
I found Steve at a wedding show and he was so personable and fun! Getting down to the planning, he was always so quick to respond and organized. He checked in with us all the time, even just to see how we were doing. The day came and he was on top of everything… Everyone was on the dance floor from beginning to end, including me and my husband!
Steve was amazing from start to finish. He didn’t just play music, he created the energy and atmosphere that made our entire night unforgettable. His MC skills were second to none. He kept everything flowing perfectly, kept the crowd engaged, and made every moment feel special.

Questions we get asked
How far in advance should we book?
Popular Saturdays in June, September and October tend to go first, and a lot of couples lock in their DJ 9–18 months out. That said, we do take shorter-notice bookings when the date is open. If your date is close, call and ask rather than assuming it’s gone.
Do you MC as well as DJ?
Yes. MC duties are part of what you’re booking, not an upsell. Introductions, speeches, dinner, cake, first dance and last call all get announced clearly and on time, so your night runs without anyone having to grab a microphone and improvise.
What kind of music do you play?
Country, hip hop, electronic, jazz, oldies, pop, soul and R&B, rock and current Top 40, from a library spanning roughly the last 70 years. Before the event we build your must-play list, your do-not-play list, and a general read on the crowd, then adjust live based on what actually fills the floor.
Can guests request songs?
Absolutely, and we’ll honour anything that fits the room and isn’t on your do-not-play list. You always have the final say. If you’d rather we field all requests through you or the wedding party, we’ll do it that way.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Fully licensed and fully insured, and a member of the Canadian Disc Jockey Association (CDJA). Most halls and hotels now ask your vendors for proof of liability insurance before they’ll let them load in; we can supply it to your venue directly.
Do you travel outside Hamilton?
We regularly work across the Golden Horseshoe and Niagara: Burlington, Oakville, Grimsby, St. Catharines, Brantford, Cambridge, Guelph and Toronto included. Travel within the region is built into the price; anything further gets quoted before you book, never added afterwards.
What do you need from our venue?
A standard power outlet near the dance floor, a table or a bit of floor space for the booth, and access to load in about two hours before guests arrive. We handle the rest, and we’ll walk the room ahead of time whenever the venue allows it.
How much does a wedding DJ cost?
Wedding DJ services start at $1,300, and that price already includes the pre-wedding consultation, DJ coverage, full MC duties, the sound system, microphones and travel, not a stripped-back base rate with everything added on afterwards. Room uplighting starts at $250 if you want it. Stag & does and private parties are less, because they’re shorter nights with a simpler setup. Call with your date and your venue and you’ll get the real number for your night.
Do you take more than one booking a day?
No. One event per day. Your night is the only one on the calendar, so nobody is watching the clock to get to a second booking.
